To get a rough idea of how double page spreads are layed out, what they actually contain and what the suitable questions are to ask, i did some research. I look at how other music magazine have been layed out and what questions they asked so that when i interview the character my douple page spread is based on i know what is appropiate to ask. I look at two magazines to compare them, one a music duble page spread a student had produced and a double page spread that isn't based around music but is questionnaire based.
I then did a questionnaire that my friend answered in character of a lead singer out of a indie/rock band.
I found out by doing this that doing a questionnaire based double page story it would be easier to include all the information. These questions will make it easier to write the double page spread because now i know what to include.
I carried on designing my double page spread i used the same image as the full backround, this is effective because it makes the character the main focus then the background fades out. I've chosen typography that looks like it is representing rock music because i think it looks effective along side the character holding a microphone pole.
I have also included an opening paragraph to my double page spread to allow the readers what this artical is about.
To add the double page spread i transfered the roduct to a JPEG so that i could use that as the background image. I then copied my text out of a word document onto the publisher file, this is how it looks...
I think that this looks like a fully published double page spread because it includes everything on that a double page spread needs. The text i have stands out on the background. I like how i have resented this piece because i think the layout makes it look more professional. I also like how i have smugged the image out to create the full background image because it makes Dan Reynold's the main focus on the page, his fans will notice him then want to read the artical about him. If i was to produce this again i would try to make the picture more focused because it would make the overall image look better.
